When thinking about buying a skateboard for you or your kid for the first time, there are some things you need to take into account in order not to regret it later on. And while choosing an attractive skateboard matters, there are some other important things you should consider in order to take the most out of it.
Stop at the Right Shop
Without any doubt, when it comes to choosing the right skate store online is the right thing to do. Of course, there are both online and offline stores, but when it comes to choosing, there are better skate store online deals than online. It is important to note that choosing a reliable and reputable online shop will always get you exactly what you need or close. Ranging in style, material, construction, and brand, you can easily find the right one, and in case you are not sure what you are looking for, the store’s friendly team will always help you find the right choice.
Choose the Right Size
When choosing a skateboard for yourself, choose one depending on what you skate more, street or transition. That way, you can easily choose a size that benefits your skill set the most.
If you like to skate on streets then you should choose a deck that is between 18 and 20cm while those who love riding pools and parks should start looking at skates with a 20cm deck or larger. In case you do not have a specific desire or draw, then you can choose with a skate that is 20cm wide and 70cm long.
When compared to park wheels, the street skating ones are a bit smaller, lighter and more responsive to flipping. Since wheels are measured in millimeters, you should choose wheels around 49 – 52 mm for street skating. For transition or vert skating it is best to choose a skate with wheels between 54 – 60 mm as they are larger and can cover more surface area which is ideal in situations when speeding for those airs or grabs.
Determining the truck size mainly depends on the deck size. Once the trucks are on you need to make sure they match the width of the deck, not sticking out or in. They need to be aligned with each other, so for a standard 20cm deck, a truck size of 149 should be just fine.
There are different shapes of decks you can choose from when buying skateboard, however, if you are a beginner, it is recommended to choose the conventional board shape. Of course, there are many others, but the most important thing to understand is that there are no good or bad shape boards, it is all in your performance.
